How would you describe your style?
My style is often described as natural, clean, bright, and timeless! I use natural lighting for [most of] my sessions, so I am always looking for the best light to put my clients in and the best time of day for our session, to accomplish just that!
What is the booking process like?
First, we would chat about what type of session you are interested in booking and I will give you an idea of what to expect from me!
I will likely have some questions for you so that I can best get you the information you need and we would go over all the details for your session.
In the event you're not ready to book with me, I'm always happy to meet up for a coffee to get to know each other first!
Booking fees are taken up front, in order to book your session, whereas your final payment(s) are due later on!
What is the booking fee, and how much is it?
The booking fee is a non refundable deposit you make towards your session in order for me to hold your session date and time in my calendar. The fee will be subtracted from your total amount due, leaving remaining amount to be due on the day of your session. This fee is typically $100.00 USD, but can vary depending on which type of session you are booking.
What time of day are your sessions?
This will vary depending on the kind of session you are booking, but if we are shooting outdoors, I will typically book our session around 1.5-2 hours prior to sunset. This way, we will have optimal lighting to help my clients look their very best!
Do you instruct for posing? I’m kind of awkward.
Yes! I will walk you through the whole process start to finish, giving you prompts for posing along the way. In the event there are any specific poses or prompts that you would like to incorporate into your session, please let me know!
How many photos will I get?
The number of images delivered will vary by session type. Please contact Emily with your specific questions!
I have no idea where I want to do my photo shoot, can you help??
Absolutely. I have a list of suggested locations that I love to photograph based on what area you live. If you aren't sure if these locations are what you're looking for, I am happy to help you narrow down the perfect location for your session!
In the event i've never been to the area where you're hoping to shoot, I will to go to location ahead of time to scout out the best spots and the best lighting for our session!
Do I get the copyright to my photos?
All clients receive rights for unlimited use of the photography for self-promotion, such as online, in brochures, etc. They do not have the right to sell these photos or give the right for these photos to be used by a third-party. Those third parties must approach the photographer directly.
What types of payments do you take?
Credit Card payments are accepted.
What do I do between booking and my session?
Now it's time for your session prep! I have a guide that I've compiled of my favorite tips for your upcoming session, including outfit/styling tips and suggestions!
What do I wear? I don't even know where to start!
I have my Emily Vale Photography Style Guide available for my clients, that I send out during the booking process! That being said, a quick rule of thumb is that when selecting your outfit(s), I suggest that my clients stick to neutral / earthy tones. I find the more neutral the tones, the better you look and the better your images come out!
Staying away from "loud" patterns and neon colors is advised. Jeans are certainly an acceptable option, but if you are going for a higher end look, I usually suggest opting for non-denim options, such as slacks, dresses, and other dressier attire.
What if I need to reschedule?
I’m happy to reschedule, as long as I’m given at least 24 hours advanced notice, when possible. Your deposit will transfer to your new date, but situationally, an additional deposit may be required.
How long will it take to get my photos?
It varies depending on the session, but typically I will throw any sneak peeks from your session onto my social media accounts within about a week @EmilyValePhotography, to get us all excited about the results! Be sure to follow my instagram and facebook pages to be among the first to see those previews!
After that, I go to work on your images, getting them edited to perfection, just for you! Depending on which session you've booked with me, will depend on the turn around time for your images, but most images are delivered within a 2-3 weeks after shooting.
What happens if you get sick or injured and can’t photograph me?
If the session were able to be rescheduled, we would do so, at no additional cost to you. If it was something that couldn’t be rescheduled, I would make my best attempts to find a replacement photographer with a similar aesthetic to myself that could fill in for me, at no additional cost to you.

What is a Mini-Session?
A mini-session is typically a 20-30 Minute Session in which the photographer books multiple clients back to back. Many of these sessions have their own theme or use a location as a theme. See examples of mini-session themes further down this page.
The cost of the session is less than that of a full session, which ends up being a better option for some people. Especially for those who like to update their photos throughout the year, but don't want the full session booked every single time.
What's included in my Mini-Session?
While themes, props, and locations may vary, you can always expect the following out of my mini-sessions:
